Tolkien Reading Day is held on March 25 each year. It has been organized by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favorite passages. March 25 was chosen because it is the date of the downfall of hte Lord of the Rings (Sauron) and the fall of the Barad-dur.
The Adult Services Department of the Bellevue Public Library is celebrating all month with J.R.R. Tolkien themed take home craft kits.
